Beyond the Core

Opportunities abound for Albany Area School students within the regular school day.  Students in the elementary school participate in art, music, physical education, and media classes throughout their week.  Secondary school students can choose from a variety of fine arts, physical education, CATE, world language, and business classes.  Additionally, high school students can earn dual credits through concurrent enrollment courses.

Fine Arts

Our fine arts facilities include the new Blattner Energy Arts Theatre, also known as the BEAT. Students are able to join several extra curricular activities including drama, jazz band, and Vive Voce, a singing ensemble.

Band, choir, art, photography, and more are offered as courses in the secondary school.

Genius Hour

Many of our staff use Genius Hour time in their classrooms to enhance student learning. See the video below for an explanation. Genius Hour looks different in every classroom because it is driven by the students in that room.

High Potential Program

The Albany District supports and promotes a Gifted and Talented program K-5 known as Huskie High Potential that allows qualified students to be challenged beyond the regularly adopted curriculum. This pullout program exposes students to challenging and rigorous activities that stretch their imagination and creativity.
