Read more about the I Love to Read Month activities at Avon Elementary!

February is I Love to Read Month!

This year our theme is “Read Across America: Choose Your Own Adventure.” Our goal is to travel virtually across the U.S., from the Atlantic to the Pacific, earning miles by reading. Pre-K/K earn 2 ½ miles for each book read. Grades 1-5 earn ¼ mile for each minute read. Grade levels work together to choose their route, create their travel vehicle, and learn about our country along their journey.

We will all end our trip in California, where we will celebrate our success. Students will be using virtual reality headsets to enhance their experience. Please help your child fill out their reading recording sheet and return it on Mondays.

PTA Sponsors BE THE NICE KID Speaker

Avon focuses on kindness with speaker and student council activities.

Bryan Skavnak spoke to students at Avon Elementary about "Be the Nice Kid." Through storytelling, he had students laughing, smiling, and thinking about what they could do to be the nice kid at Avon Elementary. Afterwards, he joined students for recess to play and continue to encourage his message about being the nice kid. Thanks, PTA and Avon Student Council, for supporting Bryan's visit to Avon Elementary.
