Choir

The choir department has four choirs at the middle and high school, as well as an extracurricular choir called Viva Voce for high school students.

In seventh and eighth grade, students have the option of band or choir as their fine art (required class). Once in high school, choir becomes an elective. The two middle school choirs are split into A and B days. This means that half of the 7th grade choir will meet on an A day, and the other half will meet on a B day. These separate sections combine into one choir for the concerts. Middle School choirs perform twice a year.

Varsity is Albany’s 9th grade/non-auditioned choir. Concert Choir is a select ensemble of 10-12th grade students. The high school choirs perform once per quarter. While in the high school program, students have the opportunity to sing in honor choirs and to perform at large group and solo and ensemble contests. Students in high school must sign up for at least two quarters to participate in Varsity and Concert Choir. Students interested in joining Concert Choir must audition in the spring before the next school year.
